Scala theatre Museum and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele

La Scala is among the world’s most famous and important Opera House. We have to go back in time to 1776 when the great neoclassical architect Giuseppe Piermarini designed a very elegant theatre.

The front of the building is refined and simple but inside is rich in decorative details, the theatre hall is enchanting with its horseshoe shape that you will admire from one of the elegant boxes facing the stalls area and the huge stage.

The theatre museum is a fascinating place where you can learn the story of the great musicians, opera singers and orchestra director that made this theatre unique from an artistic point of view.

Can you guess how many football fields can fit in the stage?

Our guided tour will keep on visiting another very special place, so close to La Scala, one of the highlights of Milan: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The building is an arcade which connects La Scala to the Cathedral. It was built in 1865 and named after the King Vittorio Emanuele, it was originally designed to be a very special and stylish shopping area and meeting point for all the citizens of Milan. Strolling along the Galleria you will be covered by a glass roof and surrounded by many elegant decorations, on the floor, on the walls and on the roof.

Do you know that when the Galleria was built there was not electricity yet? So they had to use gas lamps and to light them they used a very special device called the “little mouse”!
